Alvarez & Shelley was organized in 2003 by Louis Alvarez and Francis Shelley, both of which were long time employees (1986 and 1988, respectively) of McCay Accountancy Corporation. The principle of McCay Accountancy Corporation, Keith McCay, was planning on reducing his business in anticipation of retirement. Louis and Francis had long standing relationships with a majority of the clients of McCay Accountancy, and therefore, the three of them came to an agreement to transition the business to the new firm. Keith has continued in the past few years with the firm in a reduced capacity while enjoying retirement, but his expertise in many areas of taxation and relationship with many of the clients are a vital resource for the firm.
